Gypsy music with it's authentic Balkan sound, is conquering an increasingly wider public. This latest CD release from Crammed and Six Degrees Records, features some of today's most interesting international electronic music producers reinterpreting tracks by leading Balkan Gypsy bands such as Taraf de Haidouks and Kocani Orkestar.

Feast of the East at Lula Lounge is an appropriate setting for the celebration of this new release. Drawing on the music of the Jews, Arabs, Greeks and Roma, the sound of Feast of the East is the that of radical roots: traditional, yet filtered through the prism of Toronto, a rainbow of the world's richest colours.

Wednesday, April 21, Feast of the East 6 will feature MEDINA (Arabic/World/Dance) AND THE BUCHBINDER BRASS BAND [Eastern European, Jewish, Fusion], THE ROULETTES, Roula Said's awesomely hip Belly dance troupe and DJ MEDICINE MAN, host of CIUT's No Man's Land.

The May 26 Feast of the East event will return to the peace activism roots of the series and present Jewish and Arab artists together performing traditional materials then jamming in the usual funky Feast of the East format.
