Event and Party Planners Alert - Mid-Summer Night Fiesta
We're holding a private reception on Tuesday July 27 from 6 to 9pm for event and corporate party planners. If this means you, please join us. Email tracy@lula.ca for more details and please pass this information on to any event planners you might know.
After 9 the party is open to everyone. It's a great chance to hear Caché as well as the Brazilian drumming group Maracatu Nunca Antes. Au Parfum de Tango at Lula
If you enjoyed the Griffin Trio and love Astor Piazzolla don't miss Montreal’s acclaimed violinist, Helmut Lipsky performing here with Berlin’s L’Art de Passage next Wednesday and Thursday. Music critics have called the work of this jazz/tango quartet “intoxicatingly romantic and mesmerizing”. Lipsky and L’Art de Passage have been touring extensively throughout Europe and Quebec and are about to explode onto the scene in English Canada. Bash Bush
Keep visiting the website for updates on August 18th and 19th. Some of Toronto’s best known pop and blues artists are coming together for a two night Anti-Bush fundraiser and get together. We’re not allowed to reveal anything yet but if you call us we’ll give you some very leading hints.
Late Summer Menu
At the end of the month, chef Derek Crinson will again update the Lula menu in order to take advantage of the gorgeous local seasonal fruits and vegetables available at this time of year. New appetizer items include a crown of vine-ripened tomatoes, filled with Mexican chutney, topped with slivers of shaved asiago and a summer gazpacho topped with tomatilla salsa. Among the new entrées are New Zealand snapper baked in a banana leaf with tomatilla chutney, topped with maple-roasted chayotes and rice cakes and a grilled loin of lamb with papaya mint mojo and wild mushroom escabeche, served with herbed quinoa. This menu is great for groups of 2 to 20. For larger groups, give us a call and Derek will develop a custom menu for you.
Bring the kids to Bara Rumba
We’ve decided to get an early start on August 25th in hopes that the younger and older sets can join us to enjoy this Afro-Cuban Folkloric Percussionist/Dance and Song Troupe from Baracoa, Cuba. The show begins at 8pm and will include many Cuban dances as well as some tricks involving Fire.
