Holiday Parties
We're already booking parties for the holiday season. Lula can accomodate groups of 2 to 250 people for cocktails, canapés or full dinners. We're hosting our second Event Planners party on September 28 -- if you're responsible for booking your office party, planning a wedding or fundraiser, email us at parties@lula.ca or inquire online and we will mail you our brochure plus invite you to our special evening of food, dancing and music.
Sarah Jane Morris
From the UK Sarah Jane Morris will be with us for three nights starting October 19. Before going solo in the late 80s, this fiery singer who boasts a voice that’s been compared that of Nina Simone and Janis Joplin, played alongside Jimmy Sommerville in The Communards. The Guardian has called her one of today’s best vocalists.
Cuban Party w/ Beatriz Marquez, Evaristo Machado + Ruben Vazquez
The Cuban Consulate in Toronto and Lula Lounge will be celebrating Cuban culture on October 22, featuring Beatriz Marquez, Evaristo Machado and Ruben Vazquez. Details will follow but the evening will certainly include DJ Billy Bryans and a dance lesson by Ana Machado.
The RED Festival
Lisa Pijuan’s bimonthly cabaret has grown into its very own festival. With over 90 performers, this four day event will be one of the most eclectic and innovative presentations of dance, spoken word, film, theatre and film that Toronto has ever seen.
Halloween
Put on your craziest costume and join us for our Halloween dinner and salsa night with Proyecto Charanguero October 30. There will be prizes for the best costumes and a special, scaarry Halloween punch.
Chet Baker on Remembrance Day
Fans of the legendary, late Chet Baker will want to book early for this special tribute to the infamous jazz trumpet player and vocalist. Chet’s son Paul will present rare footage from the Baker estate archive and share some of his memories about his father’s life and career. The night will also feature jazz ensembles lead by Norm Amadio and Lorne Lofsky with guest vocals by Danny Depoe (star of TIME AFTER TIME: THE CHET BAKER PROJECT.) The great Artt Frank, who played for many years with Baker, will also be on hand to help honour Chet Baker’s life and work.
